The Tempe Woman’s Club NEEDS YOUR HELP! The Tempe Woman’s Club continues our legal battle to regain our beloved clubhouse and property and protect it from multi-family development.
The former club president (herself a realtor!) acquired the Clubhouse by questionable means.* The Club has filed a lawsuit in Maricopa County Superior Court that seeks to return ownership of the Clubhouse to the Club.
*She purchased the club in a sweetheart deal (interest-free) and, through her willful negligence, has since accrued multiple tax liens against the property!
Investigative reporter Paulina Pineda covered the nefarious dealings in an article for The Arizona Republic. While a recent Maricopa Superior Court ruling returned control of the Club to its members, the legal battle continues to regain the Clubhouse property.
The Clubhouse, built by founding members of the club in 1936, has been the center of social and civic activity for over 85 years. The adobe-bearing wall structure is architecturally significant, and the property’s location serves as a gateway to Tempe’s historic Maple-Ash Neighborhood in downtown Tempe.
Tempe Woman’s Club, part of the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs has a storied history in Tempe, Arizona. To this day, Club members have been engaged in countless community-based philanthropical and charitable projects whose influence is felt throughout our compassionate community.
Our legal fees continue to mount as we await the outcome of our recent trial. Any amount you can contribute to this effort is GREATLY appreciated! ALL monies collected will go to pay our legal fees. With your help and loving support, we are confident that Tempe Woman’s Club will prevail!
